Kranen’s Guide to Festive Drinks

The Christmas period is upon us, and you might be surprised to learn that your Kranen 3-in-1 instant boiling water tap can be a great asset when preparing drinks for your guests.

It will save you considerable time when preparing mulled wine, warm cider, or traditional hot chocolate. In this blog we will give you some recipes you can make using your instant boiling water tap. These recipes are guaranteed to spread Christmas cheer amongst your guests.

Après Ski Wine:

This is our take on the traditional mulled wine and includes orange and cinnamon flavours for an extra Christmas feel.

Ingredients:

-   250 ml of instant boiling water

-   250g of sugar

-   1 orange

-   1 cinnamon stick

-   10 cloves

-    1 bottle of wine

Method:

  1. Add the sugar and cinnamon stick to freshly drawn boiling water from your Kranen instant boiling tap
  2. Let the mixture simmer, and add the juice of a freshly squeezed orange
  3. Simmer some more and add orange peel and the cloves
  4. Simmer for 30 minutes
  5. Add the bottle of wine and only stop cooking once the mixture starts to steam
  6. If wine isn’t your tipple of choice, why not try another winter classic: the hot toddy (see recipe below)
  7. This drink is enjoyed as a nightcap, but there is no reason not to offer it to your guests instead of mulled

This classic whisky-based drink is so delicious it is bound to become a festive favourite, especially when enjoyed in good company over Christmas.

-   1 cinnamon stick snapped in half

-   1 lemon

-    2 cloves

Method:

  1. Whisk the whisky and honey together
  2. Add half a stick of cinnamon to each heat-proof glass
  3. Add 200ml of fresh boiling water from your Kranen 3-in-1 instant boiling water tap
  4. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice into each glass, or add more depending on your preference
  5. Serve with a slice of lemon studded with a clove (if you don’t like cloves, you don’t have to follow this step)

On a cold night, serving those drinks to guests will go down a treat, but there is a classic that remains ever popular and enjoyed by everybody, the mighty hot chocolate. So, here is Kranen’s take on this classic comforting drink.

No-Milk Hot Chocolate

hot chocolate

This recipe is ideal for showing off what your instant boiling water tap can do. You will be surprised to find it is as creamy as if it was made with milk but is much lighter on the stomach, something your body might appreciate after the endless stream of parties and cheer.

Ingredients:

-  2 Tbsp Chopped Dark chocolate

-   2 Tbsp Cocoa powder

-   ¼ Teaspoon Vanilla extract

-   3 Teaspoons Granulated sugar or maple syrup

-   360ml Warm Water

-   Marshmallows to garnish

Method:

  1. Draw some warm water (not boiling) from your instant boiling water tap to melt the dark chocolate. To do this, we advise you to turn down the temperature gauge on your boiler.
  2. Whisk until the chocolate has completely melted
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the pan
  4. Add your favourite garnishes (we particularly like marshmallows)
  5. Pour into a mug

The whole family will enjoy this take on the classic hot chocolate, so why not pull on your Christmas pyjamas and sit around the tv to watch a Christmas film?
